Buckmore Park Summer Championship Rd 3

Heat plays funny tricks. It affects the tarmac; obviously it makes it hard to find a good set up; it makes tempers really short and gives good sun tan! I think that adequately sets the scene for the BPKC club meeting on the 8th of June. Not everything was as hoped but I don’t intend to draw attention to the negative, just report the results as usual.

Mini Max got the ball rolling this month and it was a good day for James Doherty who dominated the class. It was close in the final as Elliot Rice crossed the line a split second later for the silver. Tom Ingram kept his nose ahead of Matthew Hogarth for the remaining podium position. The grid was shared by a small Junior TKM 4/ entry which was won by Sean Babington.

Junior Max was perhaps the cause of the majority of the excitement and stress this month but that aside still provided the usual close racing we have come to expect. Heat winners were Robert Foster Jones, Luciana Bacheta and Sam Hart so an interesting final was definitely in prospect. Here Kenneth Andrews led the first lap before losing out to Bacheta for 10 laps before Andrews snatched the win on the last lap, the margin a mere two tenths. Sam Hart took a comfortable third with Devon Modell and James Colburn completing the podium. Luke Edwards was rewarded with the class novice trophy.

What can Jack Aitken do to stop the jinx that affects him in the Comer Cadet finals? Always out front in the heats, today a win, a second and a sixth, it always seems to go wrong in the final, which left the door open for Ashlee Whiteman to grab the gold from James Raven by a country mile. Sam Vanderpump came home for third. In Honda’s it was a win for Callum Hardgrave who had already collected two heat wins. George Wright came home for silver while Jessica Hawkins took a close third.

Total dominance is a pretty good boost to the confidence and that is how Lee Jenner went into the Rotax final. Here he built an impressive lead over Harry Arnold to end a perfect day. Kit Brough came home for the bronze with Harry Somner completing the trophy winners. Jason Green received the novice trophy. In heavies it was Mark Goodwin who came good despite Matthew Daniels perhaps earning the “favourite” tag in the heats.

TKM was as close as ever and in a depleted final produced a win for Mark Palmer from Matthew Parr by four tenths.
